It was our very first time partnering with the Marine Toys for Tots program in both Orlando and Tampa. We wanted to do something for our community and we couldn’t think of a better way than to raise money to purchase bicycles for children. Our 25 Florida stores collected donations over just a two-week period in November and December of 2017. Many of our guests, like yourself, rounded up their order or donated any amount during their visit to one of our cones. The result was great!
Thanks to your contributions we were able to raise over $6,500. Our original goal was to purchase 30 bikes in Orlando and 30 bikes in Tampa. However, we were able to purchase 120 bikes for Florida children! Our original goal was doubled and we couldn’t be more thrilled for the additional kids that had a brand-new bike to unwrap.
Our first celebration was held in Tampa at our Twistee Treat Gandy location. Everything worked out splendid. From the U-Haul rental, to the huge purchase at Wal-Mart, back to our store to set up for a photo with the Marines from the local Toys for Tots program, and finally loading the truck to send off the bikes. We did this all over again the next day in Orlando at our Twistee Treat Westside location!
Again, we can’t thank you enough for all of your donations. You truly helped make a difference in lives of many children. We hope to partner with the Marine Toys for Tots program again in 2018 and make an even greater impact.
